Hot wax…. Strip wax…. What’s the difference?

Hot wax…. Strip wax…. What’s the difference?

The names do not refer to the temperature of the wax but the type of wax. Hot wax is thicker than strip wax and does not require the use of cloth or paper strips to remove it. Hot wax behaves in a different way to strip wax and as a result requires a completely different technique to apply and remove. For instance, hot wax is more thickly applied to the skin and hardens in a couple of seconds trapping the hairs. At this point the wax itself is pulled away from the skin and the hairs come away with it.

Hot wax depilation has been available for many years but only in the past few years has it become popular again.

DID YOU KNOW that In the 80’s and early 90’s hat wax was always reused by putting it through a filter to clean out all the hairs that was removed from previous clients. This wasn’t the most hygienic of practices and as a result, there was a big hype that this type of hair removal could potentially spread diseases such as AID’s.  But now this has all CHANGED – the wax and spatula are not reused.

The Benefits of Hotwax

When done correctly, a hotwax treatment is a lot less painful than a strip wax treatment and leaves the skin feeling smoother and a lot less red.

Hot wax is better for sensitive areas like underarm, genitals and for the face. It is therefore perfect for underarm, bikini, brazilian, hollywood, and
eyebrow waxing

Hot wax is much gentler on the skin as it does not require as much stretching as strip wax and it does not strip the skin as easily as strip wax does and
is therefore less likely to bruise the client.

Stubborn and strong hairs can be more easily and safely removed with hot wax.

The client’s hair will grow back finer: you can tell whether a client uses hot wax or strip wax as with the latter, hair grows back course in the same way
as it would had it been shaved off.

Clients have less in growing hairs when they use hot wax.

Did you know ????

There are many countries that will offer hot wax for waxing the bikini area eg Australia, Brazil, America, France. This is due to the superior qualities of hot wax and the higher risks associated with strip wax when using it for such a sensitive area.

Clients will need to be waxed between every 4-6 weeks depending on your hair regrowth rate.  The hair only needs to be around 1cm.

So,….. next time you’re thinking about being waxed.  Why not try hot waxing on your bikini area compared to strip wax……….
