OUR STORY

The CUCUMBA story began in 2003, when Stella set herself a challenge, namely, to create an environment she wanted to work in; a place that was creative, innovative, fun, and truly different. It was tough going at first. Until her cousin/niece/friend (it's an African thing), Vivienne (chartered accountant, actress, business analyst, drama queen, whatever) came riding to the rescue. And together, they staked everything on a vision: A revolution in beauty and massage therapies.

They thought:

• Why should people have to wait till they're retired, or made a million, to enjoy delicious, pampering therapies? (Stella thinks about retirement a lot; she's no spring chicken.)
• Why are there no decent day spas in the centre of town, unless you book two years in advance for a manicure and pedicure that cost an arm and a leg?
• Why should perfectly cool people have to go to seedy, girly-pink nail bars and salons?
• Why should they pay a tenner for ten minutes in an undulating chair in the name of a massage?
• Why not make exquisite, pampering therapies more accessible more often, for more people - as an antidote to the stresses of urban life?

They decided to put a stop to all that! And CUCUMBA was born. So now you can get beauty and massage therapies that fit in with your time and budget, in a suitably stylish environment.
